It runs.

Today we went for our first drive in a Jaguar. I was able to get the 2nd Jaguar up and running today with a lot of help from my friend Mike. It appears that the only things wrong with the engine of the 2nd was the Coil was bad and the vacuum lines had started disintegrating and there were missing lines that were very important.

For the most part the engine is working well but since I didn't feel like trying to replace all of the vacuum lines at this point it still runs a little rough. Case in point: during the first time around the block with my wife and kids in the car, it died while we were driving. There are a lot still wrong with the 2nd Jaguar, but that doesn't matter. The engine is good on the inside. Mike and I did a dry/wet compression test and the results were:

Cylinder - Dry -- Wet
-----1-------127 -- 140
-----2-------127 -- 135
-----3-------130 -- 135
-----4-------125 -- 130
-----5-------125 -- 135
-----6-------120 -- 130

that gives me a variance of 8% dry and 7% wet between different cylinders. These numbers look pretty good for the internals. The valves and rings don't seem to be in bad shape at all. The next step is to remove the engine from the 1st Jag and clean the engine bay. Then I can take the engine out of the 2nd and clean it, give it new vacuum lines, timing chains, water pump, etc. and put it in the 1st.
